Soak in volcanic hot springs, explore highlights like Mount Asahi and Lake Shikotsu, and stay in traditional ryokan inns with onsen bathing and kaiseki dining. Japan’s colourful wonders await.

Tour Overview

  • Day 1: Monday, August 31 – Niseko to Noboribetsu Onsen

    • Departure: Private vehicle transfer from Niseko group hotels to the famous hot spring town of Noboribetsu Onsen.

    • Activity: Visit Jigokudani ("Hell Valley"), a volcanic crater featuring geothermal activity, volcanic steam, and bubbling hot springs.

    • Stay: Overnight at a traditional ryokan (Japanese inn) with multiple onsen baths.

    • Meals: Lunch and Dinner included.

  • Day 2: Tuesday, September 1 – Noboribetsu to Lake Shikotsu

    • Activity: Travel through rural Hokkaido to Lake Shikotsu, a majestic caldera lake. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon canoe cruise on the clear, stunning waters.

    • Stay: Check-in at Marukoma Ryokan to enjoy more relaxing hot springs.

    • Dining: Experience a Kaiseki dinner, a traditional multi-course Japanese fine dining experience.

    • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner included.

  • Day 3: Wednesday, September 2 – Lake Shikotsu to Asahikawa

    • Activity: Travel by public transport to Asahikawa, Hokkaido’s second-largest city. Join a leader-led orientation walk through the city, including Japan's first permanent pedestrian shopping street.

    • Leisure: Afternoon and evening at leisure with options to visit the Otokoyama Sake Brewing Museum or dine at Alley Furarito.

    • Meals: Breakfast included.

  • Day 4: Thursday, September 3 – Asahikawa

    • Activity: Visit the family owned Kawamura Kaneto Ainu Museum and learn about the rich culture of the Aino people. Enjoy a cooking demonstration and tasting of traditional Ainu dumplings.

    • Leisure: Afternoon and evening at leisure with further explore Asahikawa.

    • Meals: Breakfast and lunch included.

  • Day 5: Friday, September 4 – Asahikawa to Sapporo via Mt. Asahi

    • Activity: Take the Asahidake Ropeway up Mt. Asahi (Hokkaido's tallest peak) for panoramic views. Afterward, visit the mineral-rich, strikingly Blue Pond.

    • Arrival: Travel by train to Sapporo for a leader-led orientation walk of the city’s unique grid-based layout.

    • Meals: Breakfast included.

  • Day 6: Saturday, September 5 – Otaru & Sapporo

    • Activity: Travel by train to the nearby coastal township of Otaru and its scenic canals. Enjoy a leader-led walk or time at leisure, including the chance to visit the famous Otaru Book Museum.

    • Leisure: Afternoon return to Sapporo for further time exploring this great city.

    • Dining: A farewell dinner of Sapporo's signature Genghis Khan barbecue lamb at a local specialty restaurant.

    • Meals: Breakfast and dinner included.

  • Day 7: Sunday, September 6 – Tour Concludes in Sapporo

    • Departure: The tour concludes after breakfast with check-out from the hotel.

    • Meals: Breakfast included.
